Held of Harrogate
Held
of Harrogate began life as part of the, family owned
and run, Harrogate Arts and Handicrafts Centre, founded in 1953 by
Edwin and Nancy Balmforth.
China
painting supplies were first introduced when the Balmforth's son Chris
- who now runs the company - returned from Germany in 1973 to join
the family business.
During
these early years the company began to import porcelain from both
Germany and Japan and was the first in the UK to offer a mail order
service for the china painter.
We
carry large stocks of high quality supplies
at extremely competitive prices.
Orders
are professionally packed
and are usually despatched on the same
day as receipt.
We
are fortunate to be involved in such a pleasurable business and are
committed to providing a friendly, well informed and first class service
to help you to really enjoy and develop the many aspects of the fascinating
and diverse art of china painting.

The
Held Studio is a separate business, providing
a ceramic decal printing service from customer artwork and decorating
china for special occasions such as births, weddings, anniversaries
etc. We can also produce small runs of commemorative ware for local
events, golf trophies, fund raising etc...

Today,
we run the mail order business from our home, a converted village school
on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and supply customers all over the
world. Visitors are very welcome but please
let us know in advance of your arrival so we will be
able to entertain you properly and also provide you with directions.
